One Week in Curaçao: The Perfect 7-Day Itinerary
Seven days is the sweet spot for Curaçao. It is long enough to slow down and let island time take over, yet full enough to swim the western beaches, dive a reef, sail to an uninhabited island, and still wander the colorful streets of Willemstad with a coffee in hand. The trick is having a base you never have to rush home to.
That is why we built this Curaçao itinerary around a single walkable home: the Pietermaai District. Stay put, unpack once, and let the island come to you. From Majestic City Suites & Beach Hotel, with a public city beach steps from the door, here is how to spend one unforgettable week on Korsou.
Day 1: Arrive and Settle Into Pietermaai
Ease in. After you land and check in, resist the urge to do anything ambitious. Walk down to the public city beach in front of the hotel, dip your toes in the laman, and let the warm air do its work.
As the light turns golden, stroll the coral-pink and ocean-blue lanes of Pietermaai. Find a seafront table, order something cold, and watch the sun set over the water. Your only job today is to arrive, fully.
Day 2: Explore Historic Willemstad
Today belongs to the UNESCO-listed capital. Cross the swinging Queen Emma floating bridge from Pietermaai into Punda and lose an hour just photographing the famous waterfront row of Handelskade.
Wander the Punda shopping streets and the floating market
Visit the historic Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue, one of the oldest in the Americas
Cross to Otrobanda and stroll Kura Hulanda's restored lanes
Cap the day back on your side of the water with dinner in Pietermaai. For more ideas, lean on our local's guide to things to do in Willemstad.
Day 3: The Western Beaches
Rent a car or join a tour and point yourself west, where Curaçao keeps its most jaw-dropping beaches. The drive is part of the joy.
Cas Abao is the easy, organized choice, with sun loungers, clear water, and gentle snorkeling. Further west, the twin coves of Kenepa Grandi (Grote Knip) and Kenepa Chiki sit framed by limestone cliffs and impossibly blue water. Porto Mari, with its double reef, is another sun-drenched favorite.
Pack light, bring reef-safe sunscreen, and plan to stay through the afternoon. Our sun-kissed guide to Curaçao's best beaches maps out the full coastline.
Day 4: Diving and Snorkeling the Reef
Curaçao is one of the Caribbean's great underwater playgrounds, with healthy reefs that often begin just steps from shore.
Spend the morning with a certified dive operator exploring the colorful coral walls, or keep it simple with a guided snorkel over the shallows at spots like Playa Kenepa, where green sea turtles and tropical fish are regular company. If you are diving for the first time, most operators offer an introductory session in calm, shallow water.
Back in town, reward yourself with a long, slow dinner. You earned it.
Day 5: A Day Trip to Klein Curaçao
Block out a full day for the island many travelers remember most. Klein Curaçao is a small, uninhabited island ringed by white sand and clear water, reached by a boat trip from the main island.
Most tours leave early and include time to snorkel, swim, and simply lie on the beach beside the old lighthouse. It is a long, sun-soaked day, so bring water, sun protection, and a hat. Read our Klein Curaçao tips and secrets before you book, so you choose the right boat and the right morning.
Come home, rinse off the salt, and keep dinner close and casual in Pietermaai.
Day 6: Christoffel Park or Shete Boka
Trade sand for landscape today. The northwest of the island holds two of Curaçao's most dramatic natural parks.
Christoffel National Park protects the island's highest peak, Mount Christoffel, with hiking trails and the chance to spot the rare Curaçao white-tailed deer
Nearby Shete Boka National Park guards a rugged coastline of inlets and natural blowholes where the surf crashes against the cliffs
Start early to beat the heat for any hiking, and pair the two parks since they sit close together. Bring sturdy shoes and plenty of awa.
Day 7: A Slow Final Day in Korsou
End the way you began, gently. Sleep in. Take a long breakfast and a final swim at the city beach. Pick up the last gifts and bottles of Blue Curaçao you meant to buy, and have one more leisurely lunch by the water.
If your flight is late, this is the perfect window for a final wander through Pietermaai, soaking up the colors you will be daydreaming about for months. A slow last day is the most underrated part of any good Curaçao itinerary.
Getting Around During Your Week
A rental car gives you the freedom for the beach and park days, while Willemstad itself is best on foot. Because Majestic City Suites & Beach Hotel sits in walkable Pietermaai, you only need wheels for the days you head out of town, which keeps things simple and relaxed.
